Take a look at this demo website. It is the DOG DAYS responsive template with mostly stock standard styling... the overall look and feel has not been changed in Site Designer. The changes made in Site Designer has been the uploading of a logo and header image, the text edited in the header, and the columns padding altered. That's about it... the purpose of this demo is not to showcase design and asthetics skills, but to offer some extensions to the default setup that are not achievable via Site Designer. The overall look and feel is up to you.
The majority of things that you see which are different than the standard version of DOG DAYS, are achieved by adding some easily understandable and editable custom CSS to the template. Once that is done, you will have a design that looks like this one, and can go ahead with your Site Designer styling in the normal way.
On this demo site, I will give you complete instructions along with copy/paste CSS that you can add to the template, to get DOG DAYS looking just like this (but with your own header and logo). Once you have the basic setup, you can tweak the custom CSS (I will show you how) and then complete your overall look and feel in Site Designer, in the usual way.
Have fun with it.
This customized version of Dog Days template will give you...
Look at the sticky navbar example page to help you decide which you prefer, top fixed, or bottom sticky nav. Or if you want the standard nav (top or bottom). When you have made your decision, follow the steps on the instructions page. Follow them in order, don't deviate, and you will end up with a great looking template that works and displays correctly.
Once that is completed, you can read the CSS Tweaks page to get a better understanding of our custom CSS and make any changes you deem necessary. After that, it's down to you... you can complete your Site Designer styling as normal.
Note: There are now additional pages with some "extras" that can be added to the core custom CSS.
Once you have done this, you will deserve a cold beer (or glass of wine), so here's a picture to inspire you. You're welcome.
